Ibiza government issues a new club closing time for next summer

Dance music’s endless party destination is getting a new curfew amidst a massive crackdown from the island’s government that saw multiple club closures over the summer 2015 season. Ibiza president, Vincent Torres, and the city’s five mayors settled on an agreement yesterday that the island’s new club closing time will be 6:30am, posing a threat to venues like Space, Pacha, Amnesia and DC-10. Officials stressed that they will “impose sanctions that are commensurate with the offense committed” for those who are found breaking the new law.Several months back, Amnesia was found in breach of their license on a total of 15 violations, the most severe of which cited the venue to have remained open until 1pm – seven hours later than permitted.

The new law extends beyond Ibiza’s superclubs; officials also announced that cafes will close at 5am and beach clubs will be forced to shut down no later than midnight.
