KDA Feat. Tinie Tempah & Katy B – Turn The Music Louder (Rumble) (Armand Van Helden Do Voodoo Mix)
With hits as versatile as ‘The Funk Phenomenon’ and Dizzie Rascal’s ‘Bonkers’ under his belt, the reign of Armand Van Helden has been one of unprecedented turns for the New York house icon. The precious remixer and Duck Sauce cohort has been all the more sparing on his output for 2015, but this month takes London’s KDA and his latest Tinie Tempah and Katy B assisted single under his wing for a suitably jacked-up remix.
Stripping things back to Tinie’s catchy vocal hooks, a warm blend of percussive work and nostalgically tuned lead work see ‘Turn The Music Louder’ take a more club savvy and rawly orchestrated stand than the commercially cleansed original. It’d be too easy for Armand Van Helden to cop out after more than two decades of affirmative work in the name of American house music, but his latest sounds like an icon still holding his corner among the wave of modern genre contenders.
