December 4th couldn’t come fast enough for Chet Faker fans, who are heavily anticipating the Oz native’s upcoming Work EP with Marcus Marr. Thankfully, the collaborators gave us a preview of what’s to come with the EP’s premiere single, “The Trouble With Us.” Chet’s voice takes on a lively tone as he sings about love’s struggles over vintage guitar elements and a subtle house kick. The track is a solid blend of funk and electronic, easy on the ears and primed to be a radio hit. “The Trouble With Us” is a change of pace for Faker, who’s known for his smoother, R&B style work; that said, the piece’s universal appeal makes for an equally pleasant listen to his early work from Built on Glass.
