Fono Feat. Anna Straker – Everybody Knows (Original Mix)
Once in a while an artist appears out of nowhere and cements themselves impressively high in the food chain. This was the exact plan of action for UK prospect Fono, the Brighton-based producer who entered the radar with remix duties for Joey Bada$$ and Major Lazer and has since maintained an impressive upward spiral. Picking up where Relentless debut ‘Real Joy’ earlier in the year, his latest original alongside rising vocal talent Anna Straker continues a weird and wonderful spike in the eccentric indie dance talent’s musical repertoire.
‘Everybody Knows’ is a far calmer and collected take on the signature Fono sound. It still sweeps and subtly grooves in all the right places, but takes the form of something of a glitchy electronic ballad with a modern soul twist and less obvious club teeth. You’re going to struggle to find a more convincing balance of pop panache and left-of-field electronic conviction outside of the likes of Disclosure, but Fono’s far less hackneyed approach has him pegged as an essential up-and-comer where the UK front is concerned.
