Alison Wonderland flips Justin Bieber’s ‘What Do You Mean’
Justin Bieber‘s “What Do You Mean”has all the makings for a hit, but the composition begged for an aced remix to accompany it. Luckily, Alison Wonderland took matters into her own hands. The Aussie standout, who recently announced her first US road stretch next year, is capping off a huge year with a brilliant remix effort, injecting a heavy dose of future bass into Bieber’s comeback track. Taking the its radio-primed frame and replacing it with infectious dance floor appeal, Alison Wonderland turns “What Do You Mean?” into her own bright, uplifting piece of melodic, futuristic house.
Maintaining critical elements of the original vocals and some of the track’s plucky chords, Wonderland siphons out the best pieces from Bieber’s groundwork and creates a remix that perfectly accentuates the original. Bending the pitch over thumping drum kicks, Alison Wonderland gives “What Do You Mean?” exactly what it needed.
