GRiZ ft. Ida Hawk – Stop Trippin’ (Ghastly Remix) [Free Download]

GRiZ‘s funky productions don’t often see remixes, especially from the likes of bass house phenom Ghastly. The unexpected collaboration with “Stop Trippin'” succeeds by not forcing an amalgamation of the distinct sound of each artist.

Ghastly’s remix of GRiZ’s anthem exemplifies the unique freshness that can come from one artist’s interpretation of another’s distinctly different sound. Ida Hawk’s soulful original vocal is modulated in Ghastly’s remix, and the syncopated percussion shifts to four-on-the-floor. Ghastly cheekily swaps out GRiZ’s signature sax riff for synths, though the groovy melody remains intact. A complete departure comes at the 1:15 mark, with a thunderous bass drop that kicks into high gear.
