Dance Spirit – Drowning In Irises (Original Mix)
The Crosstown Rebels family has always lead the left of field electronic space, with its Rebellion sub-label serving as no exception. Having counted Timo Maas, Pirupa and Lee Van Dowski as cohorts in 2015, Rebellion kick-starts the New Year on noticeably strong form alongside LA duo Dance Spirit for their debut label stint. A personal discovery of Damian Lazarus himself, Dance Spirit have already held crowds at the likes of Coachella and FABRIC, but usher a fresh and artistically swayed chapter alongside the rising sister label with the Drowning In Irises EP.
A chunky club record broken down with brief melodic moments, the EP’s namesake track showcases where intricate layers and heavy footed groove can still bend together to make a stunning mark on the underground sound scope. Whilst ‘Drowning In Irises’ is just part one of a three-part masterpiece from the Crosstown newcomers, the track leaves us eager to hear the forward motions of this promising North American outfit.
