Venturing into a variety of genres on the electronic map, Santa Barbara native Seven Lions has come a long way since his days as a melodic dubstep producer. Having touched upon the bubblier side of house with Lights in “Falling Away,” he’s now taken a step further into full-on mainstage territory with a festival mix of the original.
The new VIP plays out exactly how it’s described, with dramatic, airy synth chords and an explosive drop built to effortlessly command the mass audiences in which it’s designed for. The track is a bit of a departure from what we’re used to hearing from Montalvo, but an easily digestible sound nonetheless.
