Carl Cox marks Intec Digital’s 100th release with new EP
Intec Digital is celebrating its 100th release with Intec 100, a two track EP from label heads Carl Cox and Jon Rundell. The EP, which will be available February 29, features an original song from both producers.
Rundell’s “Utopia” is a pounding tech house effort with an unrelenting beat. “Your Light Still Shines” is a breezy, Balearic track with melodic steel drums that allude to Cox’s Barbadian heritage.
The veteran DJ made note of the personal impetus behind the release: “This release is dedicated to my mum who passed this year,” said Cox. “So here’s to her that brought me into this world.”
Intec 100 is a victory lap for the once troubled imprint, which spent four years shuttered before a relaunch in 2010. The rebranding efforts were incredibly successful, bringing the label to international acclaim in underground scenes.
“This feels like a real landmark for Intec,” said Cox. “These tracks from Jon and I are to say thank you to all the clubbers, radio stations and techno and house music lovers from all over the world that have danced to our beat.”
