A list of the 300 most highly anticipated festivals of the year was released today, February 11, featuring a diverse lineup of events from all around the world. Music festivals make up a majority of the list, with Glastonbury, Coachella, Lollapalooza, and EDC all making appearances, but film festivals, religious gatherings, and events as obscure as the World Bog Snorkeling Championships in Wales and the Festival of Near Death Experiences in Spain all made the cut.
Festivals have grown to occupy a central space in the entertainment industry, with an estimated 32 million people attending music festivals each year in the US alone. Dance and electronic music festivals specifically have seen a marked increase in relevance, and their presence on Fest300’s list rose 25% from last year’s.
