R&B-meets-electronic vocalist Gallant — who made Dancing Astronaut’s 25 Artists to Watch in 2016 — has supercharged his 2016 with soul-stealing collaborations. After teaming up with multi-talent Sufjan Stevens for his ‘In The Room’ web video series, now he’s enlisted hip hop/R&B songstress Jhene Aiko for a stunning original titled “Skipping Stones.” The seductive lover’s anthem, released through indie label Mind Of A Genius under exclusive license to Red Bull Media House, brings back Gallant’s silky high falsetto that brilliantly parallels Aiko’s whispery lower register for a modern update on classic baby-making R&B of the ’90s. Just in time for Valentine’s Day, this record serves as an ode to those wishing to not be alone on the annual chocolate box holiday. Thankfully, Gallant and Jhene’s vocal mastery is all the company we need.
