James Blake debuts beautiful new single, ‘Modern Soul’

Falsetto master James Blake is an expert at possessing people with his soulful, unwavering voice. His ability to hit virtually any note with perfect accuracy paired with his production talents have earned him a rightful place among the top echelons of indie R&B and electronic. Within the nearly three years since his last LP Overgrown was unleashed, Blake has been teasing his eager fans along with hints at a new album dropping soon.

Slight relief was finally delivered in the most recent 1-800-Dinosaur episode, where he surprised fans with his newest original track. Tuning to the acoustic side of his talent, “Modern Soul” follows Blake’s seamless voice through a lyrical path of yearning lined with slight brushes of percussion and touches of dissonant piano chords. The powerful number, alongside his recent cover of “The Sound Of Silence,” reminds us why he’s garnered such an ardent following, and is a hopeful indicator of his third album’s imminent release.
