A firm adherent to the “if it’s not broken, don’t fix it” mentality, perennial pan-flute enthusiast Kygo has managed to ascend to the upper echelon of EDM superstardom with commendable speed, given his modus operandi of evading musical diversity.
While at the Billboard studio for his recent cover feature, Kygo also branched out musically, showing off his piano chops with a charming instrumental rendition of Billy Joel’s classic, “Piano Man.” Though covering an song that has already received an extensive catalogue of re-workings doesn’t add to Kygo’s productive variety, it reaffirms his desire to be perceived as more than the Pied Piper of dance music — an initiative that thus far has manifested itself with his “Piano Jam” and Apple Music ad placement.
