DA Premiere: Latroit – Need You Tonight (Le Youth Remix)
Detroit native Latroit gave nostalgia a fresh face with his 2016 rework of INXS’ classic 1987 release “Need You Tonight.” The initial release of the track was met with unexpected levels of industry support from heavyweights like Kaskade and KCRW’s Jason Bentley, which prompted the release of a diverse nine-track remix package.
Los Angeles-based producer Le Youth is in his element remixing the vocal-driven groovy house production. Crisp hi-hats and slinky piano chord progressions make for an effortlessly cool rendition of “Need You Tonight.”
Le Youth said of his rendition: “I’ve been playing the bootleg of this track for over a year, so getting the chance to remix it was a huge honor… but also very intimidating, as the original is so good. I hope I did it justice.”
The full remix package is out February 26 on House of Latroit/Kobalt.
