Listen to Nicolas Jaar’s remix of Kanye West’s ‘Blood On The Leaves’
In a meeting of two respective superpowers, experimental electronic phenom Nicolas Jaar has remixed rap juggernaut Kanye West.
The intriguing scenario came about when the Los Angeles County Museum of Art commissioned a short-film about iconic artist Barbara Kruger, titled Picturing Barbara Kruger, and directed by Pippa Bianco. Jaar provided the soundtrack for the piece, including a remix of Kanye West’s ‘Blood On The Leaves” in his score. The original song was produced by Hudson Mohawke and Lunice, among others, and landed on West’s 2013 album Yeezus.
Jaar’s take on “Blood On The Leaves” is every bit as dizzying as you’d expect from his eclectic studio output. Mangling the audio into evolving instrumental sections, it’s a compelling reimagining of Kanye West’s single.
