Watch Flume drop an unreleased track at Laneway Festival Sydney
To say that the electronic music world is anxiously anticipating Flume’s sophomore album, Skin, would be an enormous understatement. Following the preview mini-mix and the first two singles, “Never Be Like You” feat. Kai, and “Smoke and Retribution” feat. Vince Staples and Kukca, Harley Streten’s new LP is shaping up to be one of the most important and influential releases of the year.
Having already premiered a new stage setup at the Laneway Festival, Flume treated fans to a new, as-of-yet unreleased track at the festival’s stop in Sydney. The new single bears all the hallmarks of a classic Flume piece: huge chords, pitch-bending melodic lines, inventive sound design and unique, off-kilter drum programming. Starting from a simple progression that rises and swells into a dark and alluring future bass drop reminiscent of Harley’s final work as a part of What So Not, Gemini, this new single is everything fans could hope for in new Flume material. Watch the video of the new song below, and look for the Skin LP to be released sometime this year.
