DA Premiere: Carlo Lio – Don’t Let Me Go (Original Mix)

Carlo Lio is a name that has become synonymous with emotive, driving tech house and minimal melodies. The Toronto native is known for his unique ability to translate rather simplistic sounds into sinister, yet eloquent tracks well poised for dark warehouses and attentive home-listening alike. His latest track, “Don’t Let Me Go,” off his forthcoming EP, Runnin, is no exception.

The fact that this track is being released via No. 19 Music, a label whose name was selected for its affiliation with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Article 19 – representing Freedom of Expression, is no coincidence. “Don’t Let Me Go” is an unmarred representation of the hypnotic vocals, and concise, shuffling drums known to be favored by Lio. The relentless and menacing beat begs listeners to connect with the music on a deeply primal level, matched only by the track’s continual static, reminiscent of the vinyl sound that so many ears are yearning for today.

“Don’t Let Me Go” will be released as part of Lio’s EP, Runnin, on March 18.
