DA Premiere: Nicole Moudaber – Old Soul ‘Young But Not New’
Nicole Moudaber’s notoriety comes a great part from her shadowy, tribal beats that usher people into the darker regions of techno. She entered 2016 on a heavy note, unleashing her Silent Sigh EP as well as contributing to Drumcode’s fourth A-Sides compilation in January.
As Spring approaches we see Moudaber returning to her mentor Carl Cox’s label, Intec Digital, for her Where Shadows Lie EP. The B-side, “Old Soul ‘Young But Not New,'” sits at nearly eleven minutes in length, allowing more than enough time to travel deep within oneself with the song’s conniving, thumping percussion as a guide. Eerie vocal samples and melodic elements complement the heavy foundation, shedding a welcome, albeit still ominous, light over the rest of the clip.
