Demand for Avicii tickets has seen over a 150% increase since retirement announcement

It didn’t take long for fans to react to Avicii‘s unexpected announcement that he would cease to tour following 2016. Along with receiving support from his fellow producers, the Swedish superstar has seen his fans scurrying to claim tickets to one of his last performances. Viagogo, “The world’s largest source of live event tickets,” reports seeing an increase in demand of 151% in the 24 hours after revealing his plans. Festivals where Avicii is playing have also seen an upsurge in their popularity, with the UK’s Creamfields experiencing an 87% swell in searches.

Luckily for fans, Avicii’s remaining tour dates are a truly global affair. He will be making some of the usual stops — the aforementioned Creamfields, Ibiza, EDC UK — while also making his way to Israel, Japan, Ultra Korea, Poland, Dubai, and, of course, returns home to Sweden one final time.

Avicii, born Tim Bergling, promises to “never let go of music” in his retirement, potentially leaving the door open for continued releases and perhaps a return to touring at a later date. However, there are no guarantees and fans are responding accordingly with their wallets.
