Ellie Goulding to quit music for time being following relationship split
Ellie Goulding is not taking well to heartbreak, particularly following her recent split from Doug Poynter. As it goes, the English singer-songwriter feels that an indefinite period of alone time and a break from music may be the most effective solution to tending her broken heart. She tells The Sun:
“I’m not writing new stuff. I’m not sure when I’ll release a new album. It might not even be next year. I need time off for my own head.”
While it’s in Ellie’s plans to stop music for the foreseeable future by next year, the vocalist is grateful to be touring and surrounded by those who love her most — her fans — each night. “If I wasn’t on tour it would have been a great deal harder,” she says. “I would be by myself, overthinking and wallowing. I have been trying to take my mind off it by watching things and reading. It’s the only thing I can do.”
Goulding’s more immediate plans include wrapping up her tour and pursuing some charity work: “My plan is to have a month off in August and do more of my charity stuff and then next year I need to live a bit. Who knows? My situation has changed.”
