Los Angeles-based producer Garrett Lockhart has embarked on a path to prominence over the last year through his series of “flips” under the Fawks moniker. Generally, Fawks’ revisions see the Icon Collective alumnus convert well-known tracks into masterfully crafted bass house or drum and bass compositions, like his frenetic remix of RL Grime’s “Core” or his highly-publicized re-imagination of Deadmau5’s “Imaginary Friends.”

For his newest release, Fawks lends his hand to an original production, reaffirming his bass house abilities with “Riddim.” Available for free download, “Riddim” is a comprehensive reflection of Fawks’ inspirations. Lockhart lays G-House appropriate vocal samples atop a canvas of chaotically whirring bass synthesis. A musical amalgam that adheres as much to the essence of Bassnectar as it does to that of Jauz, “Riddim” is an eclectic LFO maelstrom that leaves bass music aficionados excited for more Fawks originals.
