Four Tet wants to create ‘the London equivalent of Berghain’

If Germany’s Berghain could have a sister venue based in London, there would be no better candidate than Four Tet to bring this vision to life. The English electronic musician recently expressed his desire to buy the Trocadero, a former entertainment complex on Coventry Street, and transform it into “the London equivalent of Berghain.” The new venue would emulate the techno hub’s unparalleled sound and night-to-day party essence, but would be far less selective and invite other genres that align with London’s musical tastes, including UK garage or jazz.

Four Tet’s hope is to help revive an ailing London music scene – one that has lost countless live music venues over the past few years. Dance Tunnel, another stalwart among London’s nightclubs, announced its August closure earlier today due to licensing regulations.

For the time being, Kieran Hebden has created the #helpfourtetbuythetrocaderoandturnitintoaclub hashtag to aid his initiatives in gaining momentum across the internet. To donate, fans are invited to contact him directly.
