Deadmau5’s new Beats 1 Radio show is off to an exciting start. After featuring two hours of savvy curation from the Canadian icon himself on the inaugural episode, the second edition finds Zimmerman splitting time with label prodigy ATTLAS.
While the format of the series — titled Mau5trap Presents — is still becoming clear, Deadmau5 began his most recent broadcast by elucidating his intensions behind the show: “Over the coming weeks here on Beats 1, I’ll be bringing you more music that I love and some major world exclusives.” Zimmerman delivered on his promise by premiering Mau5trap’s latest track, “Aspen,” by ATTLAS, before delving into diverse cuts from the likes of Burial, Ben Frost, Jay Lumen, and the Beastie Boys.
The second hour features a guest mix from ATTLAS, with the young Canadian showing off his penchant for various forms of techno, from warehouse-friendly cuts from artists like EEKKOO and Mark Reeve to more enchanting numbers from Maceo Plex and Jon Hopkins.
