Suggest an artist to this Twitter bot and it will curate a Spotify playlist for you

With the amount of money and effort numerous companies are investing in music streaming, the technology is clearly the way forward for listeners — despite, somewhat anachronistically, vinyl’s superior revenue in 2015. There is, however, one downside to having near-unlimited access to almost the entire spectrum of recorded music: with so many options, finding new artists and tracks can be overwhelming.

Enter DJ Lazy Set, a Twitter bot that will curate a Spotify playlist based on an artist a user tweets at it. The bot has already created playlists based off artists such as Caribou, Afrojack, and Kygo — though it is not limited to the electronic scene.

According to the bot’s creator, Grant McLennan, DJ Lazy Set runs the suggestions it receives through Spotify’s Discovery API, curates the playlist on the returns from its search, and then delivers a link back to the user on Twitter.

Twitter, sadly, has currently put the kibosh on DJ Lazy Set, preventing it from sending out tweets, but a list of playlists it’s designed are available here.
