deadmau5 deletes his SoundCloud, releases ‘Snowcone’ through Spotify

On May 23, deadmau5 fell victim to “elementary” hacking by an anonymous group called Our Mine who claimed they were “checking security” for his SoundCloud. The spat with the trio angered Zimmerman, who deleted his account two days later until SoundCloud updated their less-than-satisfactory security.

The juggernaut has taken to Spotify as a new outlet, releasing the full version of “Snowcone” for his fans to enjoy. The track initially appeared in early April, stepping outside the usual progressive realm for deadmau5 and into a mellow trip-hop soundscape abundant in ambient synths and tingly piano overtones that create an atmosphere tinged with melancholy.

“Snowcone” appears to be the answer to the mysterious video posted on Mau5trap the day before, whose mau5 head emerging from a snowy storm implied a pending release from the label boss. Little concrete information has been provided on when the entirety of “Project Entropy” will be revealed, but based off his astounding rate of production, we can be expecting something soon in the near future.
