Krewella – Ammunition EP

Krewella has dropped their first extended release in three years — Ammunition — a six track EP that sees the duo returning in fine form.

While Ammunition isn’t a huge departure sonically, the record incorporates strong global influences and heavy metal sounds into a charged, electro narrative. Album opener “Beggars” features UK hardstyle newcomers Diskord and “Surrender The Throne” carries a particularly strong breakbeat outro.

The strongest offering, though, is the sultry title track which blends a Middle Eastern sound and driving drum lines into the sisters’ graceful vocal melodies.

While much of their relative hiatus was spent dodging subcultural misogyny and an infamous lawsuit, sisters Yasmine and Jahan have since aired their grievances and the EP is a successful effort to move on.

Ammunition is out now on Columbia Records.
