Live Nation inks new deal with NextVR

Live Nation‘s next target in its latest shopping spree is not a festival producer, but a technology company – a highly lucrative business that delivers live and on-demand virtual reality experiences.

NextVR has already dabbled in the sports and political spheres, but considering the insatiable desire for immediate content consumption, the virtual reality company sought to partner with the live events juggernaut “to stream ‘hundreds’ of performances in virtual reality to fans worldwide.” The streams will come equipped with “optimized” 3D audio that will accompany 360-degree views from the front row, on-stage and backstage to enhance the experience’s ultra-realistic feel.

A broadcast schedule has yet to be determined, but the first live event is scheduled to occur this summer via NextVR’s app for Samsung’s Gear VR headset.
