Richie Hawtin unveils brand new Model 1 Mixer
The product of two years of collaborative design between iconic DJ/producer Richie Hawtin and developer Andy Rigby-Jones, the new PLAYdifferently Model 1 DJ mixer has been officially unveiled today.
In a press release, Hawtin stated that the piece of gear was designed to provide “a mixer more akin to an instrument with intuitive controls, uncompromising quality and features that can unlock a new wave of creativity.” So far, the hardware has already been tried out and endorsed by Loco Dice, Dubfire, and Chris Liebing, among others.
The mixer, PLAYdifferently’s inaugural product, boasts a sleek, intuitive design with six stereo channels, two sends and two return channels, and three preamps, along with master and bus EQ’s, high quality filters, and analog overdrive. Based on the specs and the ringing endorsements, the Model 1 sounds like a innovative and high quality mixer that may give the DJM 900 a run for its money.
