Social Club to reopen as Cats&Dogs

Famed Paris staple Social Club is no longer. News of its closure spread quietly throughout the dance community just a few days prior, sparking saddened reactions and happy memories of its dance floors. The club had been home to many fabled acts in electronic throughout its long existence that began in the early 2000s, including Ed Banger parties, James Blake, and Carl Craig. Before its closure, the club had transitioned into a hip-hop focus.

A new venture led by la Confiserie will take over the prized space on 142 Monmarte for the next three months, renaming it Cats&Dogs. Its programming will return to cutting-edge house and techno for each weekend with acts like Anetha, Skylax Records, Behzad & Amarou already scheduled. Cats&Dogs will also retrofit Social’s shell with a new sound system to accompany their fresh music selection. The new venture commences on Thursday, June 2.
