Bassnectar, Justin Martin and more collaborate on ‘Rave For Bernie’ compilation
Musicians across genres have been “feeling the Bern” since the Vermont senator first announced his candidacy in May 2015. Killer Mike, Lil B, Steve Aoki, Diplo, Steve Earle, and Michael Stipe are among the many artists who have been vocal in their support of Senator Sanders since his campaign began. Members of the dance music community including Bassnectar, the Martin Brothers, and Cobra Starship upped their commitment by contributing original music to a compilation titiled ‘#RaveForBernie.’
The compilation was curated by self-proclaimed ‘die-hard Berner’ Tommie Sunshine. About the project, the outspoken artist explained in a press release:
“This compilation is important to me for two reasons. One is to rally support around a man who is trying to change our world for the better. Two is simply to show that electronic music artists can galvanize around a cause and change the conversation within our scene. Each artist involved here is passionate about Bernie and isn’t afraid to be vocal about it. I believe this is important because California has the chance to show the world that we want real change.
