What So Not and George Maple drop new collaboration featuring Rome Fortune

What So Not and George Maple have proven a formidable pair. One need look no further than their gargantuan collaboration “Gemini,” which arrived in April of last year. Now the the team have joined forces again for a brand new joint called “Buried,” a surreal hip-hop number featuring Atlanta rapper Rome Fortune.

It’s a bit of a change of pace for Chris Emerson, the (now solo) creative brains behind What So Not. A departure from the future bass inclined stylings of previous work, “Buried” melds trap and hip hop tropes with lethargic, psychedelic sound design. The Australian producer’s penchant for wonky, off-kilter soundscapes — his sonic trademark in a sense — remains thoroughly intact however.

“Buried” arrives with its official video, premiered by Pitchfork, showing the artists floating catatonically through water. The collaboration is the first piece of What So Not’s new EP on OWSLA.
