Sven Väth caught watching football on his phone during festival set
Any hardcore sports fan has likely experienced the agony of being forced to focus on professional engagements while the desire to watch the game festers inside like an unpleasant ulcer. It seems that German techno legend Sven Väth has come up with a workaround to this little problem.
Photos from this weekend’s Awakenings festival in the Netherlands’ apparently show the DJ watching the Germany vs Slovakia game on his phone during his set. In the photos, Väth’s phone rests in prime view on a mixer between two vinyl turntables.
It’s hard to fault Väth too much for this minor transgression. After all, the Euro Cup is a hotly contested series, and the DJ was still able to successfully spin a crowd pleasing vinyl mix. What’s more, videos of his sets at Awakenings in 2013, 2014, and 2015 all reveal glimpses of the questionable iPhone-on-mixer set up. If nothing else, the iconic producer can at least add ‘dedicated multitasker’ to his distinguished résumé.
