Destructo enlists Wax Motif, Pusha T, and Starrah on ‘Catchin’ Plays’
Destructo’s catalog is booming with low-end house flavors, patched together by a blend of West Coast rap and Detroit techno influences. His latest offering, “Catching Plays,” is par for the course, blurring the divide between house and hip-hop with contributions from Wax Motif, Starrah, and Pusha T. “Catching Plays” is G-house at its core, hopscotching between a sinister trap creep, a wobbling house backdrop, and cranking, wiry breaks.
King Pusha delivers his spits in top form, rounding off the track with Starrah’s squad-summoning hook chopped throughout. The rising hip-hop star already has writing credits with some of pop and R&B’s biggest names, including Rihanna and Jeremih. Now she’s collaborating with Destructo, joining the ranks of Ty Dolla $ign, iLoveMakonnen, and YG. Equally suited for festival tents and club stages alike, “Catchin’ Plays” is a party-primed preview of Destruco’s upcoming EP, and by the look of it, the HARDfather still has his best work underway.
