Skrillex and friends recently touched down in Montreal for Ilesoniq Music Festival. The LA-based collective was well represented on Ilesoniq’s lineup, with the OWSLA label head himself holding down headlining duties at this year’s festival. Following the event, the OWSLA crew held an after party at New City Gas, where Skrillex took the opportunity to host the latest episode of his Beats 1 residency. Barong Family-bred and OWSLA-raised Wiwek opened the show’s first hour, warming the decks with his rabid jungle terror before Snails and Skrillex stepped up to finish the show with an hour-long back-to-back session.

Snails and Skrillex pulled out all the punches for Snails’ hometown crowd, loading their hour-long bout with over 20 unidentified tracks. Snails had his snarling “vomitstep” in a continual rotation, while Skrillex peppered the mix with some of his biggest haymakers. The pair even offered an early debut of new material between the two. Nearly every other track the two selectors queued up was either unidentified or a VIP mix, making for two hours of unabashed mayhem from New City Gas and one of our favorite OWSLA Radio episodes of the year.
