Calvin Harris gets personal with new single ‘My Way’

After pairing with Dizzee Rascal for their hip-hop/electro fusion hit “Hype,” Calvin Harris returns back to the subtler, muted production approach he used in “This Is What You Came For” for his new single “My Way.” Piano chord progressions, melancholic string accents, and lush synths take precedence in the toned-down effort, which will likely dominate charts throughout the season.

One particularly interesting thing to note about “My Way,” however, is the rather personal nature it assumes. Not only did he use his own vocals for the first time since 2014’s “Summer,” but the lyrics also seemingly allude to his ex-flame Taylor Swift, specifically the lines “Lie awake/Two faced/But in my heart, I understand” and “it was all about you/Now I feel so far removed.”

In line with the new single, Harris recently unveiled a new strategy for his upcoming music, which involves releasing solely singles instead of albums.
