The Chainsmokers’ new anthem ‘Closer’ now co-credited to The Fray
Reports are coming in that The Chainsmokers are now crediting the Colorado-based band The Fray for co-writing their new hit “Closer,” which features Halsey on vocal duty. Initial observations found a striking similarity between the band’s 2005 record “Over My Head,” which is considered one of their most popular works alongside “You Found Me” and “How To Save A Life.”
Since news of the discovery, The Chainsmokers’ single on ASCAP has been updated to reflect guitarist Joe King and vocalist Isaac Slade’s participation. A representative for The Fray also confirmed their official status as co-writers. The Chainsmokers and ASCAP have yet to comment.
The Chainsmokers’ “Closer” recently topped Billboard’s Hot 100 Chart, and was performed by the duo at the MTV VMAs.
