Dancing Astronaut’s Top 10 Tracks of September

September marked album month in the dance world. Everyone from Tycho to the elusive Nicolas Jaar released new records, while we received some tantalizing new material from future LPs, such as Justice’s new track “Randy,” and Lido’s “Dye.”

The biggest news of the month, however, was Daft Punk’s new collaboration with The Weeknd, “Starboy,” taken from the latter’s new album of the same name. Marking the first new material we’ve heard from the robots in years, “Starboy” brought along a more understated, pop-centric offering from the legendary French pair. Further surprise collaborations of the month included Mura Masa linking up with A$AP Rocky and Dillon Francis uniting with Drezo for his first official remix as DJ Hanzel.

Lastly, who could forget the bevy of remixes to deadmau5’s iconic “Strobe”? From Com Truise’s downtempo take, to Dimension’s drum ‘n’ bass spin, there were plenty of new cuts worth mentioning. The standout from the collection was a glorious 9-minute electro rendition from none other than Feed Me.
