As with any kind of object collecting, vinyl records can get pretty pricey when you’re talking about limited editions, rare finds, signed discs and records owned by music icons. But if you didn’t think a record would ever reach close to million dollars at auction, you’d be sorely mistaken.

Last year, the first test pressing of The Beatles (White Album), owned by Ringo Starr himself, went to auction and sold for a whopping $790,000, according to NME, breaking the Guinness World Record for highest price ever paid for a vinyl record. The proceeds from the album sale, along with over a thousand items owned by Ringo, went to The Lotus Foundation, a charity founded by Ringo and his wife dedicated to helping individuals in physical, mental and emotional need.
