Icon Collective Spotlight: August

Icon Collective has solidified its reputation as the premier educational facility for electronic music production on the West Coast. The North Hollywood arts school has become a breeding ground for the next generation of talent, as evidenced by its formidable track record, which includes the likes of Jauz, MAKJ, Slander, SNBRN and more.

To spotlight some of the amazing talent coming out of the school, we’ve teamed up with Icon for a new series highlighting tracks from the past month from both current students and Icon graduates.

First up on our August spotlight is LA producer Dillon Nathaniel, who contributed a UK-inspired minimal track to surging bass house imprint, Night Bass. Following a similar trajectory is Thomas Garcia, who dropped  his Miss Kitten-esque vocal bomb, “Mad Descent,” on underground imprint House of Hustle.

Turning things to the more bass-driven side, Kompany teamed up with Nitti Gritti for a frenetic collaboration on Dim Mak titled “Badlands.” Meanwhile, Castor Troy delivered a delectably clean remix of Keiynan’s R&B smash “Higher.” Lastly, new artist and recent Icon grad Sheol remixed the main theme from “Stranger Things” into a menacing blend of techno, electro, and dubstep.
