LCD Soundsystem’s new festival ‘Beach Vibes’ cancelled

Since their reemergence last December, compounded with the reveal of a forthcoming album and an incredible performance at this year’s Coachella, 2016 was shaping up to be a banner year for LCD Soundsystem. However, things have taken a turn for the unfortunate, first with the cancellation of the Asian and Australians legs of their tour — ostensibly to work on their album — and now with the cancellation of the group’s curated festival, Beach Vibes.

Set to be held January 26-28 on the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico, the festival was to feature two headline performances from LCD, as well as sets from the likes of Run The Jewels, Holy Ghost!, Carl Craig, among others. The festival’s homepage now features a statement, however, that it is cancelled due to “the event not coming together in the way it was envisioned.” It also goes on to say that fans who purchased the all-inclusive package will be refunded in full.

Beach Vibes full statement is available below.

Beach Vibes, a destination event produced by CID Presents, has been canceled. The event was originally slated for January 27 – 29, 2017 in Riviera Maya, Mexico.

The event was not coming together in the way that it was envisioned, and all parties have agreed that putting on an event that is less than 100% would be a disservice to the fans and bands alike. Therefore, canceling the weekend-long event is in the best interest of all involved.

Fans who purchased all-inclusive packages will be refunded in full, including related airfare expenses, and will receive direct communication from CID Presents in the coming days.
