Major Lazer have had another huge year in 2016, largely due to the success of their Justin Bieber and MØ-assisted summer smash “Cold Water.” The infectious dance/pop crossover hit already had Spotify‘s charts topped less than a week after its release, drew in Gucci Mane for a hip-hop primed remix, and now Diplo and company could be poised to make it back to YouTube’s “billion views” club again with the release of “Cold Water’s” official new music video.
Of the enshrined 27 videos that have reached a billion views, Justin Bieber’s catalog is already well represented with three videos. Major Lazer broke into the club last year with their equally-omniscient “Lean On,” and now they could be eyeing the feat once more with “Cold Water’s” accompanying visuals.
The video is comprised of footage from Major Lazer’s European tour from earlier this year, capturing the trio’s summer excursion to the tune of their irresistible pop hit. Shots of pyrotechnic firework blasts, streamers, and massive crowds flash by to the score of “Cold Water,” and with any luck, Major Lazer could find themselves climbing to new heights once again behind their biggest new hit.
