Dillon Francis and Alesso confirm release date for ‘Take My Breath Away’

Dillon Francis premiered a number of unreleased tracks at his personally-curated festival, IDGAFOS Weekend, which had its fourth installment in Los Angeles last December. “Need You,” Francis’ now-classic NGHTMRE collaboration, was among the tracks which initially surfaced at the festival. Francis also premiered an unreleased Alesso collaboration at the event, which came as somewhat of a surprise. Not because the two make an unlikely pair, but rather because the song takes on a heavier tone than one might expect to emerge from the partnership.

Historically, Francis has taken on the softer characteristics of his more pop-driven collaborators, rather than inserting his own heavier tendencies. Take, for instance, “Coming Over,” his melodic joint effort with Kygo. The formidable tune in the video above, which appears to be a spin on Jack Ü’s “Beats Knockin’,” seems out of character for Alesso – in the best way possible.

Alesso delighted both his own and Francis’ fans when he tweeted on October 7 to confirm that a Dillon Francis collaboration entitled, “Take My Breath Away” would be released on October 21. While confirmation of a release from the pair is undeniably exciting news for fans of both artists, it is imperative to note that “Take My Breath Away” is not the collaboration teased by Dillon at IDGAFOS weekend.

Footage of Alesso playing his soon-to-be released track with Francis at Road To Ultra Taiwan shows a production which is more indicative of what one might expect from the collaborative efforts of the two artists. The song centers around a well-suited blend of sultry vocals, melodic synths, pounding percussions, and frenetic builds.

“Take My Breath Away” is just around the corner. However, Dillon Francis fans enamored with the collaboration debuted at IDGAFOS weekend will have to wait a bit longer.
