Watch Porter Robinson’s first-ever anime: ‘Shelter the Animation’

Porter Robinson has only immersed himself deeper into Japanese culture since the release of his famed debut LP, Worlds, which became notorious for incorporating graphics and sounds inspired by the country. The North Carolina native explores this interest even further in his newest endeavor, anime production, which he has commenced in honor of his Shelter tour with colleague Madeon. Working with the Japanese studio A-1, “Shelter The Animation” has now manifested as a music video / short film hybrid for Porter and Madeon’s collaborative single of the same name.

Porter fittingly elected to premiere the new project in Tokyo. The film purveys a vibrant narrative around protagonist Rin and her quest for finding the cause of her loneliness. As the story unfolds, moving memories of her childhood present themselves. The film is quite emotive, showcasing Porter’s abilities to create visual narratives just as impactful as his music. Watch the full film above, and head to the official website for more information.
