Madeon has a live remix of Porter Robinson’s ‘Flicker’
Porter Robinson and Madeon are swiftly becoming one of dance music’s most memorable super-duos. The prodigious pair of young producers have revealed a rare talent for live edits in their respective solo concerts recently, and have further proven this penchant in their collaborative “Shelter” tour. Fan-filmed videos of the partnership in concert show Robinson and Madeon proffering numerous live revisions of each other’s productions throughout sets’ entireties.
Porter Robinson has now teased fans with perhaps the highest quality footage of their live experience available, uploading a preview of Madeon’s edit to his own track, “Flicker.” Though the snippet is devilishly brief, it provides a scintillating glimpse into the essence of the duo’s live performance, and the tone of Madeon’s spin on the song.
The French producer’s vision of “Flicker” is distinctly different from the Kanye West-infused version which has pervaded Robinson’s recent “Worlds” concerts. In classic Madeon form, this version of the song is driven by funk-engendered instrumentations and effectively simple rhythmic patterns.
