Tomorrowland Brasil cancelled for 2017; TomorrowWorld in question as well

International news outlets are reporting the official cancellation of Tomorrowland Brasil for 2017. The South American offshoot of ID&T’s famed Belgium festival had previously been hosted in Sao Paulo in 2015 and 2016. The upcoming 2017 edition has been cancelled due to concerns over the country’s economic stability, according to both El Nacional and Globo who reported the news. The festival does, however, plan to return in 2018.

What’s more, Tomorrowland’s US offshoot, TomorrowWorld, may also be cancelled for 2018. As EDMTunes points out, Imagine Music Festival — a 3-day camping festival in Atlanta, Georgia — has announced new dates for 2017, taking place on the same weekend that TomorrowWorld has historically been held, September 22-24. While this doesn’t rule out the possibility of TomorrowWorld changing dates or locations, it undoubtedly places a new level of skepticism on the festival’s return.

Back in March, TomorrowWorld 2016 was officially cancelled following the bankruptcy of SFX Entertainment.

Despite this bleak forecast for 2017, ID&T’s flagship event, Tomorrowland, appears as vibrant as ever, set to host back-to-back weekends next summer.
