DA Premiere: Doorly & Tan Dem – ‘Tonga Peak Times (Confuse Dem)’ (Nadastrom Remix)

Maven underground producer and selector Doorly has released on a plethora of premier house and techno imprints including Dirtybird, Hot Creations, and Cajual. Now, the LA-based producer is assuming another title, label boss, with the launch of his own imprint and events company, Reptile Dysfunction. The label will release some of Doorly’s own “weirder and more leftfield” productions, as well as incubate the emerging talent that the producer discovers in his travels.

Doorly explained about his new venture:

“I’ve been so lucky in my career to be able to release on all of my favourite labels regularly and have felt more than at home with my extended families at Cajual, Dirtybird & Hot Creations. But every now and then I stay up all night and make a weird track that instantly becomes my favourite thing to play out but somehow don’t fit on any of the labels I work with.“As I seem to be making more and more of this kind of music, I felt the time was right to set up a label and find out if other people were into it as well as me!”

Reptile Dysfunction’s first release is a collaboration between Doorly and newly-signed producer Tan Dem, ‘Tonga Peak Times,’ featuring vocals from The Streets’ Mike Skinner. Renowned moombahton duo Nadastrom stepped into the house arena to craft a remix of the release, streaming exclusively on Dancing Astronaut. Skinner’s warped vocals and distorted effects loop over claps and a wonky synth riff. Visceral percussion give the production a tribal-rooted feel. Listen to the remix below.
