Simian Mobile Disco have provided their first Essential Mix in seven years
In an eclectic two-hour mix of electro, techno, and experimental tracks, English electronic duo Simian Mobile Disco have returned to the BBC for their second Essential Mix. James Ford and Jas Shaw, who previously appeared on the broadcast in 2010, have taken to the airwaves with a track list featuring Matmos, Roman Flügel, Mirror Man, and many others.
The artists also include “Flying or Falling” and “Remember in Reverse” from their most recent studio album, Welcome to Sideways, released in November of last year. These tracks, along with others from the LP, indicate a slight shift in the artistic direction of SMD toward something harder than previous works. With delicate synths and hard kicks, this mix is made for dark dance-floors, large speakers, flashing lights.
