Skrillex and Mr. Carmack spent a day in the studio together

Given where Skrillex is at today, namely being one of — if not the — biggest producers in the world, with credits ranging from his boisterous solo career, to his work with Jack Ü, and producing for the likes of Justin Bieber, it’s hard to believe he was once known strictly as a “brostep” producer. If that narrow interpretation of the superstar’s skills wasn’t dead already, Sonny Moore reached way back to the earliest days of his career to recently revive his collaboration with his first band — the post-hardcore favorites From First To Last.

For those more interested in his more bass-oriented side, however, an intriguing collaboration has been revealed.

In a tweet celebrating the OWSLA head’s birthday, Mr. Carmack revealed that he had spent a day in the studio working with Skrillex who was one of the earliest supporters of Carmack’s idiosyncratic style, which can morph from heavy jazz influenced records to brooding trip hop in seconds. No word on whether the fruits of this studio session are forthcoming, though the possibility of these two unique talents finally coming together is certainly enticing enough for fans.
