Drummer Matt McGuire to join The Chainsmokers on live tour

Matt McGuire began his YouTube channel four years ago as an outlet to share his elaborate and expressive drum covers of popular music. McGuire’s takes on electronic music in particular are what have skyrocketed the young Australian musician to renown – his additions of live percussive elements to tracks by the likes of Martin Garrix, DJ Snake, and Calvin Harris have been well received, and, to date, McGuire has over a half a million subscribers on his YouTube channel.

The next milestone of McGuire’s career has apparently arrived in the form of a 40-stop arena tour across the United States with The Chainsmokers. What had started as a joke from him lightly suggesting the duo bring him along on tour with them after his cover of Illenium’s “Don’t Let Me Down” remix went viral and earned their support, The Chainsmokers ended up fully backing the idea and rushing to incorporate it into their next big tour. McGuire also posted a drum cover of their new single “Paris” shortly after making the tour announcement.
