Skrillex to Daft Punk: ‘Come on guys, let’s get a live show again’

Daft Punk’s memorabilia-filled pop-up shop opened over Grammy weekend to a host of celebrities, media, and other influential figures in the music industry who eagerly lined up to purchase items and meet the duo in person. In addition to having the chance of chatting with the enigmatic French duo, who were in attendance in plainclothes as partygoers, guests also had first access to an array of limited-edition Daft Punk items created by brands like Hervet Manufacturing, Off-White, and more.

Mija and Skrillex were the two artists selected to provide music for the high-profile affair, with Mija selecting the majority of the music for the night until Skrillex came in for a surprise set. Evidently, the OWSLA head also took the opportunity as a way in to ask the duo to please perform again. The request comes after over a year of eager hope among fans regarding a potential Alive 2017 tour.

Skrillex detailed his longtime love for the robots to Rolling Stone, from nearly getting beat up scalping a ticket to the Alive 2007 LA stop which he credits for changing his life, to his current admiration for the impact they continue to have over contemporary electronic music. He also advised that as long as he’s known them personally, he’s been trying to convince them to finally perform live again. “I’m trying to get them to do a live show,” Skrillex began. “Come on guys, let’s get a live show again,” he finished.

Fans can only hope that Skrillex’s influential voice will inspire a special concert appearance by Daft Punk after their decade-long hiatus. In the meantime, their pop-up shop will be appearing in various musical hotspots around the globe.
